MonotypesAs an amusement, I have
made monotypes since I began to paint. It intrigues me to put ink on
a piece of glass, then put a piece of cloth or paper down to pick up a print
that is backwards to what I had started out to do.
To pick up a print on mylar is excitingly
different. The ink doesn’t soak in but splays out in all directions.
This begins a whole new process. The pulled mylar is a sea of wet
color waiting for something to happen. Using a spray bottle of water, an eye
dropper to pick up the ink, and a dryer to stop the process, I go on
to explore and build new images I had never thought of before.
